Thanks, so you have done everything you can do as a moderator ... and we all know, you're doing a good job here and that this mess isn't your fault.

I did and lately it only helped for a very short while. In most cases I identified a Vodafone cookie as the origin in my case, but I have no clue, where it comes from, because I only accept cookies from websites I visit.

I get zero non- english ads. But I view the forum (and post) about 100% from my phone. Don't know how that affects any of it.

On the cookies issue, I've always wondered if there can be interaction with cookies from different sites? Maybe clearing all cookies and your cache would be helpful? Maybe not.

Cookies and cache never helped on my phone, using puffin did but I have been back on safari for several months now. When it happens I just don’t log in from the phone a couple days and it goes away. On my phone now most adds are in an Asian script. I will check from my computer when I get to it tonight.

Correction, all adds are now in English again. It appears it happens when all the spam pops up.

Wow they are off to a great start! 3.5 pages of spam with about 1 legit post per page. But all my adds are in English!

Put a freeze on new members for a while? I don't think this is about spam anymore, it's about being a jerk because we talk about him/her. In fact, plastering a forum with pages of messages unreadable by the majority of members probably never was spam. It sounds more like a disgruntled previous member.

So block any new members for a couple of weeks or more.

No. we need new legitimate members. Don't block them just to deny the spammers.

Just for a while. And how many new ones to we see on a regular basis? I think they could even require personal interaction with a moderator before granting membership and that might help.
