The 5120 is a pro model. Prince said so....Or maybe it was a cool prop for the video
Cool video! Tried to quickly verify if Prince actually play a Gretsch, will try and dig further, but what a cool look!
P.s. Just checked Equipboard, it doesn't mention Prince owning a Gretsch, but Equipboard is not always completely authoritative. You have me intrigued, though, I will keep looking and try and come up with something
I’m thinking it probably just matched his outfit for the video. I’ve never heard a 5120 sound like that. It’s cool seeing him with an electromatic though
That's what I thought
Most have spent all the video budget on extra fabric for bell bottoms. Cool.
Aah, you made me watch a Prince video. The 5120 looks great and he sells playing it well. Interesting effects.
Don't forget this one too, haven't a clue if it was his or not though.
The man knew how to surround himself with prettiness, indeed.
Dude looked good with that Penguin. Main guitar was a Tele though! #sorrynotsorry
Real classy look sporting that penguin. He’s missed by many.
I think on the final leg his main axe was that Vox 77 with CoAxe pickups which sound brilliant. The one fault of those pickups is the top of it can warp under heavy sweat and heat as it’s pressed on. His guitar tech had to replace them several times. One of the ones he replaced sold for $300 at an auction not long ago.
