On the other side of this discussion, there are words entering the language which should get more exposure. One of my current favourites is "cockwomble", used to describe an utter twerp.

For example, "many people in the UK think Trump is a total cockwomble".

"ice-picky". If you had an ice-pick in your ear you'd be deaf (and probably dead)

I like a description like "ice-picky"... mention Albert Collins, and everyone knows what you mean. :)

I youtubed (yes, my verb belongs in this thread) the Modugno version; I'm sure I'd heard it, but the one I'm most familiar with is Dean Martin's, perhaps not surprisingly, given his prominence at that time. The first instance in which I heard the song, however, was in a commercial for the Plymouth Volare, of all places -- with lyrics such as, "Drive small, the comfortable way."

Pat Boone's cover is absolutely ghastly.

I really dislike it when people respond by yelling, "Shut up!" I hate to say it, but it's usually young women. I've seen older people react negatively to that one.

I'd have to say that, although I am quite pedantic, my biggest bugbear is '7am in the morning'. What as opposed to 7am at night? It just makes me want to hit them with something large and heavy, like a piano. But then most tautology, text speak (I have a friend who insists on saying LOL when he finds something funny, instead of just laughing) and marketing buzzwords drive me crazy.

With you there. Insurance ads that speak of "Unnecessary accidents"... well what percentage WERE necessary and why?
    Same with 'needless deaths'.

And what about that "No Nonsense" Pantyhose?? What percentage of nonsense is in the other makes?

AND what happened to preparations A through G... were they ineffective???

"Computer error" or "machine error". There is no such thing, as they are made by humans. A computer/machine does what humans designed and manufactured them to do. If they do not serve their purpose properly, then it is a defect in design or manufacturing; i.e. a HUMAN error.
