Also very intelligent. Have you read the Muddy Waters' biography Can't Be Satisfied? There's a lot in there about Muddy and Wolf's rivalry and how Muddy thought Wolf was a nerd for going to night classes and managing his own band, while Wolf thought Muddy was a hound who ran through every skirt in the South Side.

Hard not to argue that Wolf didn't end up better in the end.

In the end, I'm sad I never got to have a drink with either-- both were super influential (along with Touch and Go ) musical reasons for me to move to Chicago in the 2000s.

I haven't read that book, but I have read about his shrewd business practices and desire for self-improvement. Off stage, he didn't really embody the cliches of a bluesman, but he certainly looked the part and delivered the goods.

A friend and I tried to break it down once long long ago and if I remember correctly he does not use the little finger. I think my friend got close.

TWO: Mott the Hoople Live and Slade Alive (Slayed). Both are very rough and recorded LOUD and put you in a seat in the house including sweat, piss and beer.

Queen live killers - the first live album I ever had. Actually quite well done, even If it claims you can tell the difference between the crowds.
Johnny cash live at Folsom prison: my god. Just phenomenal. Johnny sings to the prisoners.
B b king, live at the regal: couldn’t afford a bass player. Plays like it’s a 12 piece orchestra.
B b king live at cook county jail. The band includes joe Walsh and Carole king.

What kind of a guitar forum is this? 5 pages already and nobody mentioned any live record from Jimi Hendrix!!!!

I'd go with that one for Hendrix:

I know it's a compilation from various gigs, but it's a tremendous album (double LP) and a great introduction to Hendrix.

But as regards my preferred live album of all times, I'd go with the already listed Smell Of Female from The Cramps. In spite of its being much too short.

EDIT ----- Ooooops! @dougmon so sorry I didn't remember your post. 3rd in the thread on top if that...
