Got this cool Harmony archtone today for a song;)
I was just strummin on it in my friends shop and looked inside to see the model and date, it's a 1213 like i thought but SURPRISE its from my birth year! I didn't even know they made these in 1971, must be one of the last. I had to have it, it also plays and sounds great and my buddy hooked me up a great deal. 20181205_193056.jpg dig the killer flamed back!:p (painted birch)

    Very cool!
I had one of those from the 1960’s that was in rough shape.
And naturally, on the 3rd day of a wild night that wouldn’t end, i spray painted it light blue with a can of spray paint meant for airplane plumbing :)
I had a pick up glued to it. Mine was a terrible sounding guitar, but i’d play it live a lot cuz i though it “looked cool”.
This one looks beautiful. Congratulations! How’re you gonna wire it for a pick up?

It will get a DeArmond FH A, they are pre wired with a volume on the mount/ monkey stick. Screenshot_2018-12-06-07-44-02-1.png

Its a good one man. Ive had prolly 10 Harmony archtops in my years, maybe more and this is the best sounding one by far. Can't wait to get it home and electrify it through my Supro! Talk about gutbucket;)

My Dad had a pre-war Stella guitar made by Harmony. Great guitar and was cheap. They were made for the 5 and 10 cents store of the day.

People are realizing that old entry level guitars aren't always junk. Harmony and Kalamazoo actually made some nice guitars. Try a Harmony Sovereign if you ever find one. You might find them with Silvertone or Airline logos on the headstocks. As Johnny G said, they were made for the 5 &10 and department stores. They were the first guitars for many of us.

Great find! I recently got my old Kay K6868 Style Leader fixed up, and really enjoying her now.
