Well, I’m fairly certain that it is a law that if you have more than one Gretsch, at least one must be orange. In order to comply with the law I found a mint condition 5622t in vintage orange. What a guitar. Gretsch does not have to convince me how outstanding the Electromatics can be I just got that 5420 and I love it. This beast is different. 5420 wider body......5622, ultra thin body 5420 12” radius somewhat thin neck.....5622, 12.5” radius neck very thin 5420, Blacktops.....5622, super sensitive Filtertrons 5420 Bigsby, no tension bar......5622 Bigsby with tension bar 5420 fully hollow......5622 semi hollow, chambered centerblock 5420 7.2lbs.....5622, 7.2 lbs on my scale Both stunning guitars. I prefer the feel of the neck and body of the 5622. I like the non tension bar Bigsby on the 5420 more I like the Blacktops in the 5420 more. Surprises. I have another centerblock semihollow thin body Gretsch and it weighs far more than that the 5622. I’m guessing it is because the center block on the 5622 is chambered.
