Well, I’m fairly certain that it is a law that if you have more than one Gretsch, at least one must be orange.

In order to comply with the law I found a mint condition 5622t in vintage orange.

What a guitar. Gretsch does not have to convince me how outstanding the Electromatics can be I just got that 5420 and I love it. This beast is different.

5420 wider body......5622, ultra thin body
5420 12” radius somewhat thin neck.....5622, 12.5” radius neck very thin
    5420, Blacktops.....5622, super sensitive Filtertrons
5420 Bigsby, no tension bar......5622 Bigsby with tension bar
5420 fully hollow......5622 semi hollow, chambered centerblock
    5420 7.2lbs.....5622, 7.2 lbs on my scale

Both stunning guitars. I prefer the feel of the neck and body of the 5622.
I like the non tension bar Bigsby on the 5420 more
I like the Blacktops in the 5420 more.

Surprises. I have another centerblock semihollow thin body Gretsch and it weighs far more than that the 5622. I’m guessing it is because the center block on the 5622 is chambered.

One of my biggest regrets is selling my Vintage Orange 5622! Awesome guitar. Congrats!

That really is a beauty! My first two were green, then Silver Sparkle. I was a serial violator. Finally, my fourth was orange, and I love them all!

    Enjoy that new guitar!

    Serial funny

I have 4 right now, two will need to leave. It could have been worse, I just sold one a week ago.

And, regarding selling, I have a guitar listed right now and just got an email asking if I would be willing to trade mine for two of his. Hey, I need to thin the herd, not expand it.....

I really like the Super HiLo'Trons in the 5622. radd when you post something like this, it takes all my willpower not to pull the trigger on one of the used 3 pickup 5622's. I go to GC on a regular basis and dream.

Don’t we all do this? Not just GC. There are several good music stores within 15-30 mins of my house, as well as some pawn shops. A fun day is making the rounds, just to see what’s out there. Some day I might find that hidden treasure!

Congrats! I was on going back and forth between these and the Guild Starfire V and a Fender Coronado. Guild won, but I still want one of these.

I bet you could run the strings over the tension bar, maybe still get 5 degrees break...

I have two Bigsby fix’s in my parts bin, if it gives me trouble regarding tuning I will throw one on. So far with the ABM2400 I put on, it appears to not be an issue.

Yes, radd. I have a 1st serie 3-PUs G5622TLH and she weights 4.2kg (= 9.3lbs), as much as my LH 1980 ES-335TD. The center block is reputedly pinewood. Maybe they chambered that block or used a lighter wood on the 2nd G5622 series ?

About the Bigsby, I made some little modifications to reduce break angle in order to eradicate offset tuning at the tremolo + bridge side :

Read : "Over 14°" and "Less than 12°" in the break angle measures.

That's a nice combo you got Radd. I so nearly ordered one the same myself on Friday night, I went with the more conservative option of black, but seeing yours now...

I couldn't find a cheaper one than this and most other shops have put their prices up in the last few days. I ordered their last black one, this orange one is still showing in stock as of now, if you fancy getting another:

(No connection with the shop, first time I've used them myself and mine isn't due until Tuesday).

EDIT: Not vintage Orange, just the standard Orange.
