I know it's not for everybody, and that's kinda why I like it so much. In the end, it's a Martin so I know how great it is, but the Bigsby bit may cause some head tilts, and that's totally fine with me. It's 105 here today so I'm going to wait until she acclimates a bit more before I tune it up and get playing... And I though waiting for UPS was hard!

a few delivery and unboxing shots. I will get better ones when I calm down a bit more.

Very nice, congrats! Yeah not for everyone, but it's very unique and rare, should serve you for a lifetime.

Make sure to register the purchase with Martin, they guarantee the guitars for the life of the original owner. I recently had a little minor binding repair on my 31 year old Martin, didn't cost me a cent.

It's a D-28, just with a maple neck and Bigsby headstock. I've been playing it for a couple of hours now, and I absolutely love it! I've played Martins before, but never owned one and they certainly live up to (and well beyond) their reputation.

Actually, your binding issue is part of what pushed me over the edge. That sort of service and customer care means a LOT to me when it comes to somewhat substantial purchases. When I see people reporting how great their experience still is after 30+ years, I feel secure in that purchase for sure! also, it's just impeccably made!

Thanks! that was my thought exactly! I figured if I was gonna get my first acoustic guitar at my age, it should probably be special. haha

What is the connection between Bigsby and Martin?

As the story goes, Merle Travis had a D-28 and he asked his buddy Paul Bigsby to make a new neck for it. This guitar is kinda based on that idea. they made an actual Merle Travis tribute a few years ago, but that one is somewhat difficult to find, and it's considerably more expensive. This one is exactly what I wanted because it's still pretty rare and distinctive, without the eye watering price tag, AND a lifetime warranty because I bought it new.

I bet it stays in tune really well with that headstock on it. I know my Fender acoustic with the Strat headstock is amazing. There are times it has sat in a case for a couple weeks and I pull it out and it barely needs tweaking. I'm always surprised.

it really does. I'm actually surprised that it makes such a difference, but as a dyed in the wool strat guy I really shouldn't be too shocked. I pulled it out first thing this morning and it's dead on in tune just like I left it last night.
