NGD Smoke Green!

Discussion in 'Electromatic Gretsch Forum' started by vylan, May 24, 2014.

    For each of my guitars, I keep a travel soap dish in the case. I poke a bunch of holes in the dish. I put a sponge in the dish, and wet the sponge with distilled water. I check the sponge once a week and add more distilled water if needed. At the end of the dry season I take all the soap dishes out and store them until the next winter. Works great.

    Can anyone suggest grey/silver plastic pickup surrounds that fit the the blacktop pickups? I'm going for this look...

    Very very nice guitar for sure. I do similar to Martin82 and it works great for me. Humidity works great at about 50% plus or minus. I think you can find a Hum meter to add that shows exactly what it is but you have to check it regularly..............

    Ya, I'll just get a room humidifier and leave it out of the case.

    I've owned my Smoke Green 5420 for about a year now. Was originally considering orange but found a ridiculously good deal on this one. I've never regretted my choice.

    Smoke Green is really quite an enigma - looks kind of ivory in some lighting, cream in other situations, and almost a creamy pastel green in others. Very attractive!

    So, is that a pinned bridge on an Electromatic model??? Is that what the "secured" tag was referring to?

    These models now come standard with a 'secured' bridge, which is similar to a pinned bridge. I love it, doesn't rattle like my floating 5120 did.

    Can you tell how it's secured? Does it lift off if you take the strings off? Glued down?

    Just curious...:confused::D

    Congrats!

    Make sure the humidity in the room, where it's stored, doesn't drop below 40%, so get yourself a hygrometer.

    I practice that since years and had no issues with all my instruments, no matter if on a stand or in their cases.

    I also want to know, if the new bridges are without the rattling retainer wire over the screws. I had the impression it is so regarding photos I saw.

    I'm not sure how the bridge is secured, I think there are studs that attach to the top? I haven't changed the strings yet. This bridge is better than the 5120, much more solid.
