Thanks to people on this forum - you know who you are - I've been gassing for cat's eye sound holes and DeArmond pickups, and I got both features in this Historic Series Streamliner G3150. Isn't she a beaut?

On first listen, the DeArmond 2000 pickups have a distinctive sweetness. I hope I'm not just hearing the dead strings; setup comes tomorrow. And of course the cat's eyes dramatically enhance the tone. :D

This guitar has an aesthetic integrity in the width and roundness of the body, the sound holes, and the pickup pole pieces. It seems to play well, but I get a lot of pleasure just looking at it. P1030942_DxOa.jpg

I've got a 3140---my favorite guitar. Try it thru a Vox.
Everything sounds better with Cat's Eyes!

I was tempted by a 3140 a few months ago, but I would have had to drive 400 miles to get it.

Which Vox amp do you use? I had my first play on the 3150 through a Vox Mini Superbeetle, which gave me that sweet tone, but it was only at don't-wake-the-wife volume.

I have an AC15. If I were to get one now, it'd be an AC10 as I'm just playing at home. There's something special about those DeArmond single coils thru a Vox amp. The only negatives with the guitar are no Bigsby and no master volume knob.

Really nice guitar you've got there!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sometimes just likes to look at guitars.

Enjoying mine. I'd prefer the more conventional Gretsch control layout but, hey, there ya go.

    Big congrats...Love that!!!

I may be the minority here, but I find Gretsches without Bigsbys incredibly sexy!!

Beautiful guitar, congrats! I’ve always liked those guitars and cane close several times to buying one. I dig the red too, they don’t come up as often.

My 3140 is a hardtail style. I can live without a Bigsby myself (don't stone me!) as I'm a rhythm player mostly.

I've always loved those 31xx series historics and the finish is nice with just a bit of grain showing through. Nice Score!
