If you have a Bigsby B50 that’s been modded to play well (Bigsby Tuning Stabiliser, Squishy spring, and heavier arm) then it’s almost as good as the Duesy Les Trem.

    It’s a fantastic unit.

I’ve had a Duesenberg Paloma and a Caribou, and the Les Trem is excellent. Everything the B50 isn’t.

The finish on the sides and back of neck is what they call "shipwreck", and it's an augmentation done with stain.

Yep... I was at a fork in the road. It was this or a Gretsch custom shop. I really have all the Gretsch variations covered already, and a custom shop guitar would have been redundant to what I already have. So... this caught my fancy.

FWIW...The “Les Trem” is the little Deusenberg doodad that can be fitted in the place of the LP type tailpiece.

Back wood is Korina, with the "shipwreck" staining. It can't be any more than 8 pounds. I was worried about weight, and am pleasantly surprised at the weight and balance. The Deusenberg vibrato is excellent. I'm a hardcore Bigsby guy and originally tried to talk them into putting a vintage B7 on it for me. They convinced me to go with the Deusenberg, and I have no regrets.

Wowwww, cool! I usually don't like "busy" guitars, but they did a really great job making this one look tasteful even with everything it has going on. Not something you see very often. Beautiful!

Wow, that’s impressive. It totally looks like some more exotic wood to me.

It's amazing Ed, that we are following the same path. I too am at the same fork and haven't decided which way to go.

This is not the les Trem, drmilktruck, it's the Super-Tremola :

The Les Trem is the stopbar version :

Both works very well. I can mainly speak about the Super Tremola since 3 of my instruments have one : think a B5 on steroids. To be equivalent, a B5 must have a bearing front roller and a smooth spring.

    A+!

Well, I salute the fine decorative inlay and marquetry job done on that instrument, but I must confess that it wouldn't be too much my taste, personally : I find the look too "loaded", if I can say so...

Conversely, I love Wandrè guitars - that most people consider odd, if not ugly...;)

    But it's me, OK ? :D

My mistake then, as I assumed the Les Trem was the name for both types.

Dissenting opinions are welcome! It's a fancy rig for sure... I get sort of a Spanish conquistador vibe from the ornamentation. But the playability and tone(s) are equal to the aesthetics on this guitar. Really top-shelf, and I am very satisfied with the investment! More pix to come.
