A delicious Georgia Green 5622 arrived yesterday. Just couldn't say no. (mama wasn't nearly as excited as me to see UPS at the door again. Go figure?) I haven't been able to spend too much time with her yet but so far - I LIKE!!

Probably a lot cheaper than a serious crack habit and a lot better for you. Two good reasons to keep indulging.

Congrats! That's quite a fine looking pair you got there.

I always tell myself "it could be worse, I could be spending it on golf or a boat...." :D

    Congrats dak55!

I'll been GAS'ing for the 3 pickup 5622T for several months now - since I got a chance to try one out from the used rack at a GC. Somedays it takes all my will power.

Beautiful! I have its single-cut sibling, the 5620, and love it. Those SuperHiloTrons sound so sweet. Enjoy!

Awesome, congrats. 5622 is one of the more unique Gretsch offerings. Cat eyes are the best.

The steerhead headstock oN the red one should be an upgrade, isn't it?

Well, a $5 decal so not much of an upgrade. :) Same with the G brand but I think it's too large. Have to get someone with an old style g brand to measure one for me. I missed my 6120 so had to outfit the 5420 in western wear.

Agree about the cats Henry. Haven't had one since an old Ric 360-12 that is long since gone. They were only one-eyers though. When I get the pickguard off both it's pretty eyes will show.

I got about 3 hours playing time on it today and loving it. So much easier for me to play over the 5420. Don't know what to make of that. Thinner body? Neck? I haven't had a double cut for a long time so it looks like 2 necks worth of guitar to me but I'll get used to it. I've got small hands and short fingers (like Trump:D) so getting to the 15th fret is certainly easier. Really like the tones from the HiLo's.

Yep, the super hilotrons have a nice woody clank to them. The smaller body and the lower neck angle (bridge on posts instead of wood base) makes it feel quite different from my junior hollowbodies (like the 5420 but 14" bout). I loooove Gretsch (semi) hollow double cuts. I got the 5622 because I was lusting after a 335 style guitar, but I prefer the roundness of the Gretsch double cuts over the "horniness" of 335s; I don't really like how 335s look anymore.
