I picked up my new Winfield Elizabeth today from the post office. I've only had time to unpack it and install the valves (tubes). The wife has had me out for our regulation exercise and got me doing chores around the place so I'll fire it up in a bit. It looks lovely. I wasn't sure which speaker to go for and was all set for a weber but after quite a lengthy exchange with Winnie, (sorry Winnie), I copied Synchro and went with a Texas Heat. Talking about copying Synchro I may have gone with the same finish.

Awesome, congrats! These have always looked & sounded like great amps to me. Texas Heat has been one of my favorites for Fender-y amps too.

Thanks. I followed winnie's advice on it but have always seen it highly regarded in reviews. Just about to fire it up.

Pretty sure you will be happy with it! I have one of his amps and love it. Totally positive experience dealing with him as well

... but you are busy now no doubt :D

The Typhoon is what I have, bought it several years ago and is a keeper.

Lol, yes now Mrs O has let me play! It sounds great. I've only had the volume up to about 9 o'clock so far but even at that volume the tone is full and has a nice thick shimmer to the top end. Very addictive.
It loves the mystery brain and catalinbread BED. also the Drybell unit 67 works really well. Sort of drive sounds without the hair.
The reverb is some of the best I've heard from a combo. Really rich and big sounding. I can't wait until this lock down is over so I can get it out at rehearsal volume. The build is really very good so it should last me years.
    I'm very pleased with it.

Glad you like it. I use one myself when I play out (which as been stifled since Covid19).

I love it Winnie, thank you so much. Its going to get a lot of use. The Texas Heat sounds very nice, I only have about four hours through it but it's opening out already. Once we start playing out again it should sound superb!

Spent about 4 hours with my new Elizabeth this afternoon. Played a few different guitars with it and they all sounded nice.
My 5422 sounded very knarly through it, especially using my Jetter Helium and snouse black box.
My strat sounds great through anything so no surprise to me that it was sounding lovely with it.
My Tele was quite addictive, lovely, twangy goodness.
The brite switch works really well with the Gretsch but maybe a bit too much of a good thing with the other two!
Can't wait to play out with it.

Firstly; welcome to the club. You are now part of a very happy club.

That’s the beauty of having a Bright Switch. The Blackface Deluxe Reverb is one of the best amps Fender every made, but Cap C-10 meant that the Bright Switch was always on, which was fine much of the time, but the lack of choice could lead to what I call the “Icepick Effect”, when a bright sounding guitar and an always-on Bright Switch would, indeed, be “too much of a good thing”.

Cutting C-10 is a well known mod on a DRRI but it’s a one-way trip. If I was going for the Buck Owens sound, I wouldn’t want to have to solder a new Bright Cap in place between songs. :)

Thanks, it's a good club to be in!
It seems like the ideal solution having the bright switch. I wanted something with more headroom so I could play my Gretsches and keep the sound clean and clear, rather than drive the amp into too much overdrive.
The switch seems to allow me to balance the tone between my Gretsch and single coils really well. The 5422 sounds quite honky with my tweed deluxe but perfect through the Elizabeth. I'm really happy with it!
