    Hiya everybody!
Been meaning to join the forum, but stuff always seems to come up, lol.

Started playing this past decade. Had some years where you couldn't tear the guitar out of my hands and the rest where life gets in the way and I could barely catch a glimpse, on my way to the coal mines.

Started with a simple Epi Les Paul Jr (which I still love to take out & play) and pretty much stuck with solid body guitars. And while I was aware of Gretsch guitars, they weren't calling me. Well that all changed in 2017 and by 2019, I had made a promise to myself to jump on the next good deal I find on an Electromatic.

As luck would have it, I was able to get a G5622 in Vintage Orange in 2019 (my NGD, sorta;))

Like any other self-respecting nutjob, I went to gathering as much info about this particular model while I waited for it to arrive. And in the process, I learn about the G5420tg-59 model. Say hello to Gretsch #2 in my life:
    [IMG] [IMG]
[please excuse any stickers or plastic films... I tend to take pics of guitars as they arrive and rarely bother to go back for new shots after I clean them up]

The 5622 was the perfect entry point for me as it was the most comparable model to what got me turned onto hollow/semihollow guitars (an ES-335). It wasn't copying it but rather churning out it's own awesomeness.
The 5420 was the perfect companion... plus it helped that Sweetwater had put it in their annual Summer (or is it Fall) sale.

Anyway, I may have a few more Gretsch here and there (they really do multiply on you), but I 'll leave that for some other post. :D

The problem with Gretschs is they are so versatile, yet they also can fill a niche, such that you can always find another one to fill a niche you didn't know you had, even though you may already have one that could probably fill that niche just as well. Wait, did I call that a problem?

Those are both very distinctive and versatile models, and also complementary of each other. Do you see a Gretsch solid body in your future?

    Thank you all.

    Funny someone mentioned solid body...

Those Anderton's guys were clearly responsible for another choice I made;).
Gear videos never convince me to buy stuff. That is, until I watched this one haha.
This was during my fever dream period, absorbing as much as possible about my new love.

Wouldn't mind a Pro in my life, but can't say I'm ready to drop that kinda coin. Besides, having too much fun with these electros. They really do punch above their weight class.

    Howdy! Welcome to the asylum!

    He's hooked! Nice starter Gretsches.

You can't cure GAS, only hold it at bay for short periods.
