    So I picked up a D'Angelico EX-63 mainly because it's absolutely gorgeous!
It has flame Maple back and sides with a Sitka spruce top....I hated the piezo pickup in the bridge. It basically does nothing for the guitar. So I had a Seymour Duncan Mag Mic pickup sitting around that I modified to fit the D'Angelico, I also had to cut the pick guard to make it fit....but it really sounds perfect to my ears now! The Hot Rod looks so small next to it....:)

I recently got turned on to their guitars because I'm a big fan of Art Deco style...the tailpiece, headstock, 1 3/4" bone nut and gorgeous flamed maple sold me...I took a chance buying this on looks.
I have a '15 Martin OMC-28E which I love but the D'Angelico has a different sound which I also like...less sustain and more bite.
My only complaint about this guitar was the piezo pickup in the bridge, it's awful...but I fixed it with my mod, it sounds great now electrically....:)
I'm an ex-New Yorker and would love to see the showroom someday.....cheers!

Midtown on W 28th St , 4th floor . Best part is you can't purchase anything there so it easy on your wallet . I had spent the day with my daughter , she was living in Harlem at the time . The gays and gals at D'Angelico were great and gave my daughter a hoodie too . Fun day ..... I'm originally a Bronx boy and I love the West Side although I really grew up in Rockland County and I'm still here . Here's some photo's for ya memory bank ....... enjoy

Beautiful guitar! What year is the BSHR?
Forgot they put pick guards on the early models...
Those picks of NY travel are crazy, I don’t think I could do it.

It's a flat black '13...has 2 1/2" thickness which I wanted and the original TV Jones PUPS, not the Setzer ones. I picked it up on Reverb about a year ago. It's one of my favorite guitars.
...Well honestly, I love all my guitars and if I didn't I'd sell it.....which would make my wife very happy.....LOL

...looking at myD'Angelico...I think I might add a gold Gretsch Space Control bridge...that would finish the overall look....:)

Thanks, interesting depth, perhaps makes the 17" easier to handle. It's bigger than me lol.

Henry, surprisingly it's very comfortable. It has a very comfortable 3 ply neck maple/mahogany/maple and ebony fretboard.

I picked up a Gretsch Space Control bridge and installed it today.
I think it goes better with the rest of the hardware now.....It sounds different and a little fuller and less of a bite though. I'll live with it for a while and decide if I'm going to change it back.
I had no issues with spacing or installation if anyone is interested.
