J. Mascis Squire Jazzmaster.....
Stagg made them, so they're often crap-tastic. Haven't seen them in a while, though.
But there's other Asian made V's out there as well.
Also, the Agile, SX and Douglas brand guitars are d@mn good guitars for the money... Exclusive to Rondo Music-- and they have some pretty "cool" guitars. Link is below:
Think this would be a "cool" guitar for a 13 yr old into "metal"?
They're 25.5" scale, like the SCs. The HB slot should give him easy access to alot of affordable higher output, metal type pickups if the stock one isn't doing it for him too.
Good morning, sunshine!
Calvin! Glad to see you posting!
As far as the guitar, all I've got is, as mentioned, to try to see what he thinks is cool.
I think I would tell him that when I was his age, I thought *fill in the blank* guitars were really cool and that might steer him into showing or telling you what he likes.
Or maybe grandma can say what her budget is and together you guys can find/buy/customize something..
If anything, get something with a 30 day return policy and he can trade it for what he wants.
Hard to tell what a 13 year old finds cool. Today this maybe cool, next day, something else. The main thing is you are doing something cool by showing interest in helping him. That maybe the best gift of all.
exactly what i though but even better, the new models tort pickguard!
I took a gamble on buying the airline h59 from Eastwood and it outplays my 6120 and it is now my favorite guitar. That said, I think they are great guitars.
That's some high praise. I've wanted one of the airlines with 3 pups and a bigsby in white for years now, but never been able to get my hands on one to try. Eastwood makes some really beautiful stuff. I'm a big fan of the more quirky aesthetic their guitars have.
It's the player that makes the guitar cool, not the other way around.
That is badass!
I would love that now but i can see a Jag being a nightmare for a 13 year old. Too much funky, buzzy weirdness imo
