Spotted this oddity on Le Bon Coin (the French Craig's list), selling for a song (or, to be precise, about one hundred of them.)
It turned out to be a copy of a Soviet-era 5W single-ended guitar amp, complete with Soviet NOS tubes (part numbers I'd never heard of, like Svetlana 6F3P) and, a rarity on a 5W amp, a tube-driven effects loop.

The seller brought it over, and I was amazed by the tones it could produce, breaking up fairly early (about mid-way) with a pleasing crunch at the end of the dial range, playing through the built-in 8¨Eminence Legend.

Plugged into a cab with a V30, it is very loud and could easily keep up with a loud drummer.

Ultimately, it ticks off all the boxes to have a decent WAF (Woman's Acceptance Factor): it's cheap, it's small and it's retro-vintage cute.

Awesome score! Five watt amps are the sweet spot. I have one, an Epiphone Valve Jr., that gets far more playing time than any of my other amps.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. They may come in handy when she-who-must-be-obeyed discovers the new toy. Sadly, I suspect I may have unwittingly edged my last remaining Marshall stack (that has not gigged in years) a lot closer to the out-door with this acquisition.

Thanks! Yes indeed, I've found that even the venerable Watford Valves stock them. And I thought I knew something about tubes.

Ironically, I was about to pull the trigger on Thomann's latest iteration of their Valve Jr clone (the Harley-Benton Celestion Tube 5 -- € 128,) when this appeared. 'twas a no-brainer.
