Thanks, Tony - gracious as always. Enjoy your holiday and I'll see what I can do for Feb.
I'd like one of those Tony sounds perfect
I really gotta get a 1258, and 1275 to kick around. I'm just so busy lately that I've just been playing what I got in the last few months as much as possible.
I'd be happy to send you the contact info for Brian. You'll like this, it's the best of all worlds
Matt, I understand. The 1258 sounds like a vintage Jensen should sound. Bright, sparkly, with deep low end and a present middle. Some folks think it has too much high end but it's an easy mission to turn the knob down, Thing is, if the spakle isn't there at all, then no amount of turning it up will matter a whit. Solid companies like Victoria use this speaker because it delivers. No one that ever bought a Victoria cared about saving $40 on a speaker. They want and pay for, performance. This one works, and its inexpensive price is merely a bonus. It has become, over many years, my go to. Give it a shot, there isn't very much to lose.
I look forward to it Drew. Lemme know when it works for you.
Oh yeah I've heard them I just havent owned one. I'm not digging the V-type in my 68' Custom Deluxe is all. I have a handful of other speakers I could try in there, but I wanna try one of the Legends.
I replaced the V-type in my '68 Deluxe with a 1258 Legend and I am very happy with it. It made a big change and now it sounds like a silverface Deluxe Reverb and I have a real silverface to compare it to.
does anyone have his contact info?? I would love one of these amps
PM sent. This is still a fabulous amp.
That is one heck of a deal on that very nice amp!
Indeed. It's a little under $700 usd for a handmade blackface Princeton Reverb that sounds crazy good. I'm sure Brian is doing this for the love of the amp, he can't be making anything on the sales. It was so good I bought a second one that's 15W. It's amazing too.
Wow!!! super PR!! congrats!!!
Thanks Victor, it's a beauty.
Still digging the Luckhurst amp? I would love his contact info. This sounds like a dream come true!
Wow! Great price and betting it’s a fantastic sounding amp.
Yes, it is a fabulous amp. Super build quality and great sound. I find I like the sound of the 15w a tiny bit better than the 22w. I have made a suggestion to Brian that he add a "Bright Switch" to the 22W. He says that is zero problem. I find the 22w is a bit darker than the 15w BUT... I like a really bright amp for my Gretsches.
That said, there is no issue at all and I use the 22w all the time. I have tried a dozen different speakers in it and still find the Eminence 1258 Legend to be the one that suits my tastes.

Where aprox is he in Toronto? Downtown? North end?
As for the 1258, what are it's characteristics? Does it break up easily? Is it neutral?
He's in Etobicoke, between the 401 and the QEW. Not too far east off of 427.
The 1258 is a bright speaker full of 1960's Jensen. It sounds like a Fender speaker should sound. Scooped, lots of highs and lows and very efficient. If you need neutral, simply turn down the treble and bass. Even better, it is reasonably priced.
I gig this amp regularly with live drummers and it has enough horsepower to do the job.
Just heard from Brian. Time to get this rolling!
