I love my Gretsch Guitars as well but if we're going to be honest Gretsch had all kinds of problems with binding rot for a lot of years and a lot of their guitars from the 60s - 90s were poorly made. I've seen and played Gibson acoustics that were 50 - 90 years old without that problem and that is over looked sometimes. Both companies have made some great guitars and some dogs as well.
Congrats!! I foolishly sold my sunburst ES-135 some years ago. It was a great guitar, to which I did all kinds of goofy stuff, like put a Baggs T-Bridge piezo pickup and internal Roland synth pickup kit. Oddly, I never put a Bigsby on it, which one would think I would have done first. With that trapeze tailpiece, it's just screaming for a B-7.
Congratulations on the Blonde, Larry!
Years ago, I had a blonde jazz box. I wish I could say that I bought it for all the right reasons, but then there was so much I didn't know back then. So why did I buy it? Because it was a beautiful blonde.
If you get a chance to record it, I would love to hear those 57 Classics, because I'm a big fan of those pickups.
Nice guitar, Larry! Had a buddy’s in the house for 6 weeks and absolutely loved it. Like a big boomy Les Paul and love those pickups. Congratulations!
Thanks J....she is a 1999
Oh yeah...the 57's are great!...I certainly will video it at some point...and thanks LMD!
Yup...sustains like a Paul, but also has an open, airy-woody sound as well..
Appreciate that Sid!
My first one was a sunburst too; beautiful....I am a sucker for Trapeze/Harp tailpieces
Had to class up my new Gibby with a new toggle tip and knobs
..and the new look
Very nice my Friend.
I have the same guitar as this. Should say had, it resides with my Daughter in Scotland, I consider it hers.
It's all in the details. Love those reflector knobs, I like the black toggle better though.
Thanks Rich...I may "toggle" back and forth with the colors
Try brass, live a little.
How can someone not love these. Such a cool guitar. Congrats.
