I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell.

Your first two - Grand Funk and Mountain were my first two as well.

One of the more effective uses popping to mind for me right off the top of my head is at the end of the roll in the chorus to verse transitions of this one:

Provides a nice punctuation mark, IMO

Not one you would normally associate with cowbell, but this particular live performance has one of the best cowbell players in the back up singer group I have ever seen. He steals the show from the guitar solo at 2:00 in. He takes his cowbell seriously. You want more cowbell? Hire this guy! I bet you think you can play the heck out of a cowbell, don’t you, don’t you, don’t you?

I guess there was too much time between your post and my reply.

I had to stop and mow the grass for my son-in-law, because tomorrow starts 3 days of stormy weather. Ain't retirement great? ;) The good news is that I got to use his zero turn riding mower. I've never been on one before, so it was pretty ugly at first. I got the hang of it though, and looked like a pro for the last 30 minutes. :D

    Oh come on!

And this was my favourite band for a while when I was a teenager, almost every song had cowbell on it.....
