Modding a 5120 - 6120 lookalike

    I have modded a couple of 5120s with pretty good results. I have recently bought an aspen green 5420 for a real bargain price and its going to get the treatment, instead of filters I'm going to fit a pair of tv jones t armonds and all the other usual stuff.
    Can't wait to get started.

    Reviving this old thread to say thanks for all the great info Rebel. You have convinced me to ditch the English Mounts in my upcoming 5120 upgrade and go with traditional solid pickup mounting. It's all got to add up towards that Gretsch tone. Pickups aren't supposed to be microphonic but we all know deep down they are to some degree or other and mounting methods will affect how they sound.
