It's time to replenish the NGD funds and it is unlikely I will ever have these installed in anything so time to go. These have been stored away for 20+ years wrapped in bubble wrap. Based on the design these had to come from a Martin D18E NOT the Martin J55's or 65's from the mid 60's. There were only 302 D18's made and Curt Cobain's heirs have one of those. I think it's unlikely I would find one of the remaining 301 owners in need of them so maybe one of you guys can figure out something to put them in. To make these more unusual, the D18E's had 2 tones and a master. This one has 2 tone and 2 volume which makes it a one-off, a prototype. and a unicorn? These were designed to fit on a flattop so they and would need risers and some cobbling but will drop in to a full hollow body. Easy for the guys with mad skills here? Probably would not fit in a Jet or a center block semi. Pot codes date to 1956 and 1957 which is consistent for the 2 pickup 58/59 D18E's. Tone: 134718 BA217-13 F250K R510 Volume: 134645 (last 3 digits very hard to make out) BA8 1-2565 1 meg Given what I know about things like this would fit in a thimble, I sent them off to Wes (BorderRadio here on GT) for an evaluation and a 'tune-up". Below in red is what Wes did with it. Each pickup needed the shield wires resoldered. The switch needed two new solder joints as well. The pots weren’t scratchy but I cleaned each pot and the switch contacts with contact cleaner. I did the light cleanup work, removed as much of the metal filings off the magnets as I could without breaking the pickups down. Again, I know little about electronics so if you have really technical questions they would be better posed to Wes @BorderRadio if he doesn't mind since he's had his hands on them. I'll certainly answer any questions I am able to though.
