    This was new to me, appraiser said the purpose was to make the acoustic guitar louder. The one on TV was from F. Gaulke 1898

    I just want to see where he buys his cases from. I thought finding an LP case was tough....

    I will say the player in the photo looks very confident and almost has a slight grin.

    I believe also that the instrument may haven given birth to the mighty....

    I'd like to see Pete smash that one up just because it's a stupid design...didn't that guy ever hear of filtertron pickups and Vox amps....:D.
    I think I saw Spock play one of those on a Star Trek episode.

    I finally realise what inspired the ginormous horns on some of Prince's guitars(The Cloud and Auerswald)

    It's obviously the inspiration for the Danelectro Longhorn series!

    @Sabato please don't mix up lyre guitar ( http://www.harpguitars.net/history/org/org-lyres.htm#lg ) and hollow-arm guitar ( http://www.harpguitars.net/history/org/org-hollow-arm.htm ) :p

    Nothing personal, that's just a catchy way to head all of you to that great website (linked from Wikipedia Lyre guitar) with tons of pics with strange and sometime wonderful instruments. Seems like there's a whole universe there waiting to be discovered, included by our G-T usual compulsive buyers when they get sick of one more guitar again.

    An good page to start browsing that website is here: http://www.harpguitars.net/history/org/hgorg2.htm#library where you are pics of all types of harp guitars. Then links to lots of detail pages with pics.

    (BTW: did you know that even Gibson had made harp guitars: http://www.harpguitars.net/history/gibson/gibson_main.htm )

    I spent a few ours today on the website I mention above. That's actually pretty cool to dig.
