I checked : the only Squier Tele Lefties available are :

    1 - 50 classic vibe butterscotch blonde.
    2 - affinity butterscotch blonde.
3 - contemporary dark red metallic w/ humbuckers.

The 1st one would made a quite nice Esquire LH... Less Cropper-esque though...

This model has excellent reviews, moreover...

    Quick Esquire-Ization :

Well, not so bad, but not as nice as your light-cream, white-guard tribute Esquire, panhead6zero... :(;)

    A+!

I scraped the Squier decals off with a razor blade first. I printed the "Luther Tribute" on water slide decal paper for inkjet printers from Amazon. After you print, you have to spray clear acrylic over the print. I put 4-6 coats on it. Kind of heavy. Let it dry completely between coats. After I cleaned the headstock of the old decals, I wiped it down with denatured alcohol. Cut the decal out leaving 1/8" (3mm) around the lettering. Soak the decal until it releases from the backing and place on headstock. Use a paper towel or rag to squeeze out and absorb the excess water. The extra heavy coats of clear acrylic made the decal very stiff and it went into place easily. It also did not bend when I squeezed the water out. After it dried, I taped over the tuners and fretboard and sprayed the headstock with clear acrylic to blend the decal and seal it in place. If I were going for perfection, I would have used a satin clear instead of gloss after the decal was in place. Still looks pretty nice.

I never used any decal, so I note your tip, panhead6zero - thanks !

Yes true, wildeman - there's even one, a 2018 2nd hand for sale on a local craiglist these time :

But I read somewhere that the Squier CV50 is a better instrument ( @BorderRadio , IIRC) = right or wrong ?

You guys make me want to trade for a budget Esquire that I will never use! Shame on you all!;)
I left the Dark Side many years ago when I sold my last Tele Special, now Lord Esquire is calling me again because of you! And The Force is very low on me in these days...:D

Thanks Rich. Yes, I wanted to come close to Luther's strap without putting his name on it. It HAS A JACKPLATE!! I may eventually put in an Electrosocket. I had a nice MIM Tele a few years ago. I sold it, no regrets. This is fun and has a pretty good sound.

Thanks for the detailed explanation panhead. I always thought you had to print the image with a lazer printer but this makes it more doable for us inkjet users. Will definitely give this a try.

I'm looking at those tools hanging on your workbench. Are you a dentist?
