For those of us not on the twitters, The Gretsch Company (@gretsch) posted a tweet from Bonners Music (@bonnersmusic) of an upcoming Limited Edition model:

@Bonnersmusic Here's a little sneak peak at the latest offering from Gretsch! We were lucky enough to have the Limited Edition G5420TG-59 in Vintage Orange here in the store, for a little photo shoot. We have just one coming in, so get on it!

I dig it but the black headstock kinda ruins it.

I'm too lazy to check, but I would agree. They should use some veneer.

How is this different from the standard Vintage Orange 5420? Gold knobs, switch, pickguard and pickup surrounds? Different orange stain? I can't really tell. That's all I can see.

It's a beautiful dessert orange but what would have thrown it over the top is stock t.v. classics, cause that would bd the first thing I'd put in to a 59 style

    Henry,
Yes, different orange stain and the things you mentioned. Not hugely different, but theoretically, the "correct" Gretsch orange IMG_1419.jpg

Would agree were it not for the binding, which -- for me -- saves the day by tying the headstock together visually with the fretboard, all that black thus making a nice stem to stern match with the black portions of the pickups and the Bigsby, "bound" as they are by the surrounding nickel/chrome.
