This photo shows that guitar in such a way that I want one! Not sure about the Pick-ups. Would HiLoTrons fit in there?

Hi Everyone- here’s my g2420t - it absolutely sings through my Vox AC15....
I’ve changed the pickups, controls and now the tuners - a Vanson roller bridge is on the way - more gold [IMG][IMG]

Thanks - been a Gretsch fan since the early 80s as my music heroes Neil Young and Kirk Brandon are both Gretsch icons- I’ve managed to get the fabulous Gretsch twang like in Theate of Hate’s The Hop with those second hand filtertrons - fitted with a bit of help from Mr Ripley’s adaptors - very happy with it - esp as it was a £300 new guitar !!

Hi - the tuners are Wilkinson WJ 309 3x3 Gold imperial ones - got them new on eBay for less than £30 !! They screw straight in - no drilling - I love them !

Thats great - just looked them up and the big old style will look proper on my Brooklyn /burst , so think I'll give them a shot . By combining the tuners with a new TrueArc stainless should straighten out some tuning issues as well. Thankyou Steve

Welp, i finally joined the Gretsch family this year after many years of lusting after Country Gentleman's. When the new Streamliner's first came out the double cut immediately caught my eye with the simple design more akin to an ES335 & the addition of the centerblock (I own a couple of 60s Vox fully hallow's already). I fell in love with the walnut finish & white binding but pretty much all the hardware & pickups had to go, those broadtrons are decent enough but being high output ceramics sound out of place on this guitar imho. Luckily, I stumbled onto this thread & got inspired by all your beatiful mods! So... I decided to go to work. Replaced the tuners with Grover Classics, replaced the bridge with a roller bridge & straight tailpiece, replaced the knobs with chickenhead knobs & the pickups are now Frankentone Alnico V P94s. Also im lefty but i always prefer to turn them upside down & convert the nut & intonation. Look forward to hearing what you guys think, here's the final result!

interesting. different with that straight bridge piece... I like seeing the entire F hole too with no pick guard there

Do the Gotohs work well? I'm looking to put some locking tuners on my G2622T as well. Also what kind are they?

One reason is that the lower price makes it less of a risk (I'd hate to drill something that I paid thousands for). Another reason is that they are very fine guitars that already punch above their price point. With some mods or upgrades, they're even better.

    Nato wood - arguably a mahoghany-like type (?) for the neck maybe cheaper . . .

Local Gretsch dealer is gonna be setting me up with a new axe . . . Modders here have got me thinkin' Hmmmm . . . (?)
