OK I could have titled that way better, but it wouldn’t be me. :)

I recently took delivery of an assortment of Gretsch knobs from our resident doctor.
So I wanted to replace a plastic Gibson 3-way knob with a knurled one from Gretsch(known as the Armygirl mod) but I didn’t love the result. Looked around in the stash and there were a few spare Gretsch strap buttons. It was a perfect fit and looks way better on this particular guitar(Epi Firebird).

    That’s cool.
I had no idea those knobs were threaded the same.

I would prefer it to be chrome- or nickel-plated, Rich.

That's a cool and unusual mod. I like it!

Me neither! Actually I'm not sure they are, but they screwed on tight enough.

I would agree, but in this case the rest of the hardware will be brass and/or gold.

Tnx, it certainly works well with this guitar.

When i bought my Super Chet back in 92 ,it came with that mod on the switch!
It was the button from the bottom of the guitar, someone thought it was better to put in a screw instead!

I ended up changing it out though.

I had to try this last night. It didn’t work. The knob slipped right over the switch stem. It was too big.

Sorry it didn't work for you. Guitar hardware has either a metric or imperial threadsize. The switch was on an Epiphone so I'm assuming it's metric, the Gretsch button didn't say what thread it had. Maybe I got lucky.

That’s probably the deal. I know the epiphone switch stems are bigger than gretsch
