I'm surprised this hasn't been posted already. Joao Gilberto passed away on July 6 at the age of 88, the father of the Bossa Nova, worked with Stan Getz and did one I have always loved "The Girl from Ipanema" with Astrud Gilberto, composed by Antonio Jobim. Some wonderful chords in that! The sound of a new age from more than 50 years ago.

Les Pedals and Ricochet like this.

Respects to the gentleman. I have endless time for the lyric playing of Stan. Astrid on the other hand? My Traveler EG-1 could give her lessons on staying in tune, and that eg-1 goes out of tune at the drop of a hat. She did have a certain melancholy tone, which must have been what they saw in her singing.
