Not sure if this is the right forum or not.

I'm looking to swap out the speaker in my 1x12 open back, and wondered if any of you people had any experiences to share about this one.
    Thanks,
    Pete

Pete, what do you want the speaker to do? What amp? What type of sound?

Quilter 101 for blues/jazz/rock. Currently I'm using an Emi Texas Heat, and while I like it well enough, why not try something new?

There are a few decent reviews on line, thought I'd ask a trusted source, namely the folks here at GT.

OK. I have a Quilter 101 reverb and have had a regular 101. Great little amps. My favourite speaker is the Eminence 10" Legend x 2. Great sound for the Quilter. The 10" Legends tend to bring the bass back into balance with the rest of the amp and a 2x10" cab is pretty light.

Does it need to be a 12"?

    Hi Tony
It doesn't need to be a twelve, except I already have a 1x12 cab. With 10 inchers I'd have to build or buy an unloaded 2x10 cab. Not out of the question, but not my first choice. Still appreciate the tip re the Legends tho! Cheers.

You can make your 12" cab into a 1 x 10" with a simple adapter. Derrick Bell makes them for $25 but you can do it yourself with a piece of plywood,a jig saw and a drill.

A single 1 x 10" Emi Legend can make a great sound, surprisingly loud.

Rolled the dice on a WGS G12C/S, it should arrive in a few days. Might replace the Emi Texas Heat in the 1x12, might build a 2x12 and see if they have a future as a couple. Thanks for the input tho Tony..it's always appreciated!

I'd wished I had known, I would have sold you a WGS G12C/S cheap.

No worries Tony. PM me, we might be able to still do a deal.
