It appears my Gretsch is one versatile guitar . What style of music do you play with yours?

I purchased a 5420tg a few months ago. My first ever Gretsch and my first hollowbody . I favor strats and 335 types . My first inclination was to pull off some Western Swing and Rockabilly licks on this , but after a while I play everything that I play on my other guitars and it sounds great . Anything from country to AC/DC and blues . It sounds good thru a Marshall , but really shines through both my 68 Custom Princeton and DRRI. Clean or OD it sounds great.

What style of music do you use your Gretsch with?

    Agreed on all points.
I have the new 6120 Players Edition, and primarily had been doing the rock-a-billy/punk-a-billy thing, just last night though I was running through Zepplin,Free, Bluesbreaker stuff, ZZ Top, it does all of it and with a clarity, & distinct flair, I find my other electrics redundant or not equal to lately.I have had it now long enough that the new guitar honeymoon stage would have pasted and I would have been rotating through my collection more.
Oh and playing Sleepwalk is just so much fun, at 60 years young I feel grown up, ;)

Aah, Sleepwalk. Johnny and Santo/Ritchie Valens. What a great song and up until this year I thought it was only an instrumental....but there are words to the song(duh)! I play mostly old time R&R, rockabilly, R&B, folk, gospel. Anything I play on my acoustic sounds great on the Gretsch mostly on the clean channel.....Not a rocker here.

I just played J.S. Back Minuet in G. It is not designed for classical, but it plays classical with the best of them. Looks and sounds good doing it too!

Everything. Playing Purple Haze on my Falcon at a gig was particularly memorable.

All kinds... but mostly thrash metal. I struggle with the high fret work though.
Also, high distortion levels on Filtertrons can get kinda muddy. But I still play it that way. BOOM!

hi I play a 2622lh Streamliner with broadtron pickups, which admittedly are different than the pickups used on the other Gretsch models. I basically play everything from the Beatles to acid rock to heavy metal as well as blues, rockabilly and jazz. I think any guitar can be used for any music depending o n how you do the settings on the guitar and the amp. In particular, I like some of the great "crunchy" sounds i can get out of my Gretsch when I use the various overdrive settings on the amp.
