Two of G460s passed thru ebay in a last six months, both were made in '97.

This model can be find on 2003 price list:
    260-0106-812 G460 Synchromatic Thinline, Orange ........ $1,525

On the 2004 price list, it's only mentioned in the 'hard case' section:
    099-6410-000 G6238 Case, Solid Body Guitars ......$220
Jets, Firebird, Roundup, Penguin, Malcolm Young, Elliot Easton, G460 Synchromatic

    And that's it.

How many of these guitars were made??
Were they made only in '97 and only in Orange??

    The last one from ebay:

Hey I saw those too and had been wondering about them.
Interesting anomaly: an acoustic duo-jet of sorts.

If they made them from '97 to '03, then where are they?!

It would certainly be cool if FMIC/Gretsch did a Korean re-issue. Crafter have their SA and SAT series, so why not a new Gretsch Electromatic G5460?

Were G460s made in Korea or Japan?

I believe they were made in Japan. If you look closely you'll see that the label inside the sound hole has a red border and only the Japanese models got those labels. The Korean models have, and still have plain white/grey labels with Gtresch logo in an orange oval on the top.

Thanks Anni! I hope someone can come up with more info.
Looking at the 'specs' found on the web doesn't help much, it's a weird mix of details, many of them have nothing to do with this model?!

Hi Darko, that latest Ebay one was pretty beat up. It was passed in under the reserve, so I guess it wasn't attractive at a $999 BIN.

Hi Au, I saw that one, it was not in a good condition at all.

It was interesting that it's serial # was 976460-23 and the last one we saw was 976460-30.
    Year '97', month '6', model '460' - 'production #'

I saw one more somewhere, I can't find it now, I didn't save the pictures of it, I'm pretty dure that one was made in '97 too.

That's what made me curious about them.

And the fact that they are combination of a Jet and a Cat! I'm still hunting:D

Rod, it's not flat. That 460 is one of those two I talked about. Check the pic #8 - the bridge base is curved...

    Gretsch G-460

Sorry for the, oh, 4 year delay, but, electrons don't move East to West very well.

I actually HAVE a Gretsch G-460 (orange), bought new in Palo Alto, Ca (the only one they ever had) in the 1997 time-frame.

It is my main guitar; wonderful neck, light (unlike my 27 lb Gibson Les Paul), easy to play...but doesn't "bend" (strings) like the Gibson.

Like these posts, I have never found any information about the G-460, even after querying Gretsch (whose grand-son I knew and played with while he was an intern at Apple Computer in 1993-4 time-frame).

Well...I just re-read the original posts I wrote about 3 years ago (having forgotten that I submitted them) about this guitar and all I can say is:

    1. I've learned nothing more nor have I seen any on eBay or elsewhere.

    2. It's still wonderful...but the bridge has lifted about 1/16 off the body (it's always been this way) which I'm going to have fixed since it makes tuning kinda difficult.

    3. My new post is very consistent with what I wrote 3 years ago.

    4. Now looking for a Martin OOO-28 or -41 or.... to add to my collection.

    Darko,

Don't worry, neither of the ones you saw on eBay were mine, the one you sold me in 2013, which is serial number 30. I love this guitar still play it nearly every day.

There was a recent post here regarding whether or not you name your guitars/gear. I do, but this you named - when you had it so well packed for shipping, you referred to the guitar as "King Tut". So that stuck - he as been KT ever since. Thought you might just get a chuckle over that, my friend.

    Guys,

Sorry, but after I posted this I realized how old the original post was. But Darko, if your still out there, the message is still good. I hope to see you post a reply.

Well I caught the 460 bug as well. I have had this nice pair for a while. Love them both, the natural finish one has nylon strings on it now.
