I sold some items on consignment at Blues Angel Music in Pensacola and decided to get an Ibanez EGEN8 Hermann Li Signature model. It's basically an S model with elegant appointments and crazy switching versatility. Here's some pics from the Reverb ad:

I love the S models - they are really evolved Superstrats, and Ibanez does a great job of adding versatility in switching. Here's the switching capabilities for this model from the Ibanez site:

Way too many options for me.
But if you are looking for something very versatile this could be the guitar to get.
    Congrats.

Thanks for the comments guys. I will likely settle on one or 2 clean and 1 or 2 high gain selections. And no way am I a shredder - I had no idea who Herman Li was. I just find the shredders as easy to play and versatile as my Gretsches!

Congratulations. I looked at something with that switching config, can't recall exactly what, but way too much going on for me. I'm happy to not put my underwear on backwards.

Def in the shredder geet club! 80’s Texas made Charvelle, fastest neck I’ve ever played on,,, and early 90’s “New York series ESP Mirage M1 custom,,, used to be a “pseudo shredder”. Alot of failed hours at Ywingvei”sp? Licks in my younger days :). Recent fret job on the ESP, plays like new, thing is a brick, weighs more than a lot of LP’s!

I'd like to thank Doug for re-introducing me to my ESP,,,,The Jeff Beck Seymor Duncan Humbucker is one of the best pickups in my stable......my rig came alive as soon as I plugged it in,,,, Now it's got me thinkin what I need to do for my other guitars... :-/ My Gretsch sounds thin in comparison....

I know it's not the "go to" for Gretsch,,,,but out of curiosity, has anyone tried this? I'm seriously considering....

I love the JB. Not in any of my Gretsches, but all my Jacksons have Duncan JB/Jazz combos...
