I've owned and played Gretsch guitars most of my life... My parents bought me my first in the late 1950's. Unfortunately I've always sold or traded guitars when buying a new one.

Right now I own 3 Gretsch pieces -- 6122-1959, Duo Jet (TCG/caddy green) and a new Broadkaster Jr (caddy green). At my age I tend to think that I have to "control" the herd.

That's gold. But My GF has actually put 'dibbs' on my 6120 if I go around kicking buckets.

I play gretsch guitars almost exclusively with the exception of my brown bear tele. I'm a dedicated gretsch player and preach the gospel of gretsch to anyone in ear shot

My 5120 was the first 6-string I bought for myself, largely on a whim. I was a bass player and didn't really know anything other than I wanted a clean sound and it looked different. When I got my first Strat, it wound up as a closet queen because by that time I had gotten more into the Blues more, to the point I almost sold it.
I pulled the 'ol 5120 out of the case after about a year to work on a song I thought it was particularly well suited to, and fell in love with it all over again. With the recent acquisition of my 5622T my Strats and Teles are now feeling ignored. Just how it goes...

I like amazing guitars. I’m not brand loyal. I’ll always own Gretsches because they do something nothing else can do, and it’s a thing I LOVE. Plus, a Gretsch guitar is a work of art......they are simply beautiful to behold. I also like other guitars for the same reason though. I a Gretschie? I don’t really know the answer to that. I’ll let you decide. This is the only forum I hang at these days so......I guess that says something too.

When I discovered Gretsch, I put away my Strat and Les Paul.
While I love my 6120DSW and 5120, it's my two Duo Jets that get 90% of my playing time...just more comfy to me.

Same experience with my Penguin, maybe because I once was a pure Les Paul guy? It seems, I prefer smaller guitars ;)

I spend a lot of time with my Jets and Juniors too. They aren't better than the big girls, just different.

No. Not hardly. I'd never be willing to buy all that garbage stock just because it sells. I like good instruments. I honestly don't know how many guitars I own but it's around 85. Around 40 amps too.

I cannot live by Gretsch alone. I love my Les Paul, Tele and J45 too much, but it's darned close! If I HAD to choose one electric, it'd still be tough, but I think I might have to go with what the HS Filtertrons bring with just about ANY amp I've played them through. Sexy time!
