Just thought I’d drop a line to introduce myself as a happy new Gretsch owner. I’ve been an acoustic player all my life (at least it seems that way, started at 10 yrs old), but bought an off brand telecaster when I needed something I could hear above the horn section for jazz band at school. Eventually upgraded to a hollow body Ibanez af55 (actually a very decent guitar, especially for jazz with some flat wounds). A geetar playing friend, knowing the music I like (country, a bit of old proto-rock) had mentioned years ago “you should just get one of those big old Gretsches,” but I’d always figured they were up in the stratosphere of guitardom and not to be obtained by mortals. Well, I looked ‘em up one night and it turns out there’s this line called Streamliners. You may have heard of them? ;) Guitar Center was running a deal on 2018 models. The tele and Ibanez are listed on reverb and I’m the proud owner of a walnut stain 2420T. I was torn between getting the newer broad’trons on the 2019 model and the walnut and Bigsby combination, which isn’t available anymore. Eventually the price difference decided me, and I figured I’m generally handy enough to swap pickups if I ended up hating them. Which I didn’t. I did the three-low-three-high gretschbucker clarity mod on them, and I’m liking ‘em just fine. Nice twang out of the bridge and smooth mellowness from the neck. Anyway, enough blabbering, obligatory pic. That’s my ‘71 Martin D18 Slothead looking over the newcomer

I think the walnut/Bigsby combination was a good choice. :)

I've never played one but considering the price point I think it's unbelievable how classy those Streamliners look.

Welcome from farther north! Nice looking guitar, I also have never had a streamliner to play, but lots of appreciation around here for them. Enjoy!

Wow, I’m really impressed by the hospitality here! Thanks for all the “welcome”s! Yep, that Martin’s probably my most prized possession, although it’s getting some playing time competition of late. Those S models are coveted, but it had enough play wear and a headstock repair that I could afford it. It’s a “funky, beat up, wonderful old Martin D18,” as the song goes.

Welcome here and have nice time with your new Gretsch.
Given you seem to be looking for thin twang, you did the right choice with a 2018 model: from what I've understood the 2019 BroadTrons are more on the humbucker / power side, possibly muddier than the 2018 ones.
