How to write songs....

    There’s a lot in that book which can be put to use, but the main thing I took away was that you need a germ of an idea. The lame ideas I came up with in my earlier post are nothing to write home about, but Jimmy Webb could build a dozen songs from them and probably make one or two into a hit. I could write at least one song from each of those ideas, but their only use would be as a quick way of evacuating buildings. :)

    Songwriting is a very personal thing.
    No set formula for anyone.
    I’ve been writing ever since i picked the guitar up as a 15 year old kid.
    I’ve never played in covers bands .. just never appealed to me.
    Sometimes writing is easy sometimes it’s not.
    I tend to scribble things down these days if a good line comes into my head so i don’t forget it..

    A talented kid out in California once said that writing songs is like taking a shower, if you don't do it everyday you stink.
