Congrats - nearly missed that. Happy birthday to the goto Beatles guy
I remember that day well. Weather was crap... up North at least. The other thing I remember about that summer was Kenny Dalglish signing for Liverpool - 40 years today, as it happens - and Virginia Wade and Bjorn Borg winning Wimbledon.
I apologise if my countryman is confusing y'all
Did somebody mention Kenny Dalglish? Gretsch-Talk finally hits the jackpot
Me...i turn 48 tomorrow....11 Aug...
Geez time shure flies....wasnt long ago i were 20......
The b side of one of the first singles I bought mentions 'King Kenny'. Ironically, a few years later I became friends with the guitarist who wrote it - TV Stars by The Skids.
I will look that up, it doesn't mention stevie heighway on the wing by any chance? I guess that's too much to ask
No, it's not that one.
Dya remember 'Into The Valley' - was used in the Halfords ad recently? TV Stars was the b side -
I'll be 57 in November
I'm 51 years young!
Got my first Gretsch 3 years ago after wanting one for years but never thought I'd afford it!
Had 3 more since sold one...
Thanks for the b-day wishes.
But you really flatter me. Maybe I'm the goto guy for the Gretsch G6122 w/VOX AC30 '63 "She Loves You" sound.
In October I shall be 70. Last year when I was 68/69 I purchased 15 Gretsches to go with the white falcon I had.
46 until the end of October.
Got my first real guitar when i was 10 ,got my first bass when i was 15,got my first Gretsch when i was 17.
I've bought a few more since then though, the last time i sold a guitar was 14 years ago!
I should sell a few more ,but ,well,ya know how that goes....
Nice to meet you.
That old sqeeze box has been fondly recalled every time I have to transpose a song. Most non-accordian players don't realize that the left hand buttons where organized in the circle of 4ths / 5ths. Apart from learning to read music that has been the single most useful thing I learnt and will never forget it.
Bought my first gtretsch in 2011, as they were preatty rare down here.
51 but feeling like 91.
Wow, so far 75% of us are between 40 and 70. Makes you wonder what the numbers would be if this were a Strat or pointy guitar site. Looks like this poll confirms that Gretches appeal more to older folks.
I'm in the modal demographic group, so I must be in the right place.
5 Gretsches and counting...
I bought my Gretsch when I was...about...22 or so.
