Thank you Brother! I came across the husk already adorned with the pin-striping. It was just begging me to install some interesting pu's, so P-90s went in, and I scored a cool Duane arm B6 that was also added. I like the aesthetic created by the aluminum faced B6, the chrome cover P-90s, and Falcon style knobs on the blue background. It's a gas to play too!

This might be the first time I like the look of metal dogear covers. I applaud your eye for aesthetics good sir!

My favorite Gretsch in the house right now is my G520T in Red Sparkle with walnut stained back and sides. It is a real show piece.

I love that new green, looks sharp

I know not everyone likes gold hardware but I think it looks good on green and black guitars..

Is that a Caddy Green "Sparkle"? The Gretsch site is all jacked right now, it won't open any pics.

Buy used, and get a Compton and Gator dreadnought case instead and save at least half on the upgrades. And agreed, it’s getting awfully close...

You won’t get it used now, Truarcs are ‚A number one‘ and no one likes to own a chinese case with that evil toxic smell.

    No just buying the upgrades(used).

What does Tru-arc offer that makes it superior over a Compton?

Careful with the generalisations. I don’t know where Gators are made, but I think most of my cases are China made, I’ve never noticed any weird smell. If there was a fresh glue-y smell it would disappear within a week anyway.

Do you remember my probs with a poor slotted Compton and no way for a return? Tru arcs are superior made and my Serpentune is perfectly intonated. Anyway.
And I‘ve owned cases that didn’t lost that terrible far east smell even after a year.

Nice pinstripe’s. At quick glance I almost didn’t notice it.

Yes, I remember thinking you were extremely unlucky. So you draw conclusions based on a single sample size. I have 13 Comptons, none have given me problems.

That terrible far east smell? So how does the far east smell Stefan? :D

There seem to be quite a few shades of Gretsch Cadillac-green around.
    The sparkling Caddy-green looks breath-taking.

Yep, extremely unhappy because of no guarantee, no exchange, no answer, no nothing. Third Compton. Anyway, lesson learned. No need to discuss this.

Try and smell G&G and you know the difference. And by the way, I don‘t know a nitro-safe china case.

It’s a matter of one’s personal taste. Lots of folks love their Comptons.
I prefer a tru-arc because I love a rocking bar over a piece that doesn’t move (though I think Tru-arc does make non-rocking for those that want that feature).

I’ve only tried one Compton and I sold it less than a month later. No ill will, it just didn’t gimme what I like.
I now have 3 Gretsch’s, and all have Tru-Arcs. They make a great guitar greater. It’s Alchemy!
