    Hi all!

Very happy to be part of the community. I’ve always listed after Gretsch guitars, and now I have one! Got rid of a couple of Ricks, and couldn’t be happier.

I do have a question, for which I need help: I’m trying to lower a couple of pole pieces on the bridge Dynasonic and they just won’t lower. I turn the adjustment screws and they just back out of the slot instead of lowering the pole pieces. I’ve pressed on them as I turn the screws, but don’t want to hurt the top of the guitar. Any thoughts?

So happy to be here! Thanks!

    Welcome to Gretsch-Talk dablues!

I have not experienced, or even heard of your particular issue, but I'm relatively new to Gretsch myself. I'm sure there will be other long time Gretsch players that will be able to offer some thoughts to help you.

    Welcome to Gretsch-talk.

Don’t adjust anything(!!) before taking the pickup out and inspecting what is going on at the underside.
I suspect something is screwy with the monkey mechanism that sets the magnet height.

Whoops! I did mess with it last night. Hope I didn’t break anything.

Do most people have their pole pieces out anyway? It sounds fine to me, so maybe I just leave it.

Thanks for the tip. Just took the pickup off, reattached the little circle grip thing to the pole piece, and got them to the height I like! Thanks!

Thanks, all! Very nice to be here. I've had over 100 guitars in my relatively short life, always remaining cost-neutral (trading or working extra to pay for them), and I think I'm getting towards the end of enjoying GAS. I kinda want to settle down... Seems like Gretsch neighborhood is a decent place!

Other strange question, because I'm OCD: I didn't hurt my guitar by pressing on the pole pieces while they were still attached to the guitar? Are Gretsch guitars super fragile? I have a couple of vintage Gibson and Guild arch tops that would definitely take a lot to break.

Sweet! Thanks. I’m not making it a collector's, sit-in-the-bedroom guitar either. I’m playing out and about with this thing, fully intending to get it all dinged up.

Thanks again, all! One thing I'm noticing is that compared with the Tele forum (TDPRI), there seems be a higher proportion of non-USA-based people here. Does Gretsch have a more international appeal? Just an idle, and kinda cool, thought.

Assuming you didn't hammer them in I would expect not. :)

Apart from Keef, nobody in the UK plays a Telecaster. In fact, I'm not even sure that Keef does. I suppose it depends on the meds.
