That’s actually chrome, I see now it looks black. I need to work on my photography skills.
Well, nothin' that a can of black gloss spray paint couldn't solve . . .
Rickenbacker has a couple reversible black tailpieces, so that was what the first that came to mind
Aloha...I used to have a green one too.
You've got to be proud of that - it's iconic!
Green guitars, love them. Gretsch does them exceptionally well. Let's see if I can find pics of all of mine.
Aspen Green 5420 and 6118T Anniversary 2 tone Smoke Green, my first two Gretsches
My Pro Jet and Lacquer Jazzmaster both in (very different) Surf Green
My most recent Gretsch, the Brian Setzer 6120 Hot Rod in Antifreeze Green Sparkle
And my Airline Map guitar also in Surf Green
That pro jet tho!
Any comments on that Map guitar? I remember them from long ago.....
I like it a lot. Surprised me being my first Korean built guitar (it is a modern Eastwood Airline). I just gravitate to surf music with it despite the Humbuckers. Unlike the originals from National, the body is not Res-o-glass, but chambered Mahogany. I bought it maybe 6 or 8 years ago, and got a great deal on it at the time compared to what they were selling for on average.
I like green guitars and have me a few. The first three are in my avatar.
You may not know this, but clinical studies have proven that green guitars actually sound better. No, really, it's true.
"My Pro Jet and Lacquer Jazzmaster both in (very different) Surf Green"
Yes, that Pro Jet surf green looks sweeeet . . .
. . . wonderin' what year that was in the Gretsch color palette (?)
That was a special run made specifically for a big Gretsch dealership. I can't recall which one at the moment.
It's probably the same color as my G5622TLH SRF GRN :
Actually, it's more a Surf Turquoise than a Surf Green.
My guitar is dated December 2014 by its S/N°. She's one of the batch of 10 G5622TLH SRF GRN guitars custom-ordered by the French shop "Le Gaucher" (The Lefty) from Paris.
Thanks, it was indeed a special run, for Riff City Guitar done along with an equally awesome Tangerine Sparkle (was a hard choice). They were announced in late 2016, I posted about buying this one on December 31st, 2017. Think that is the year it was made, would have to check (but am travelling, brought my 2012 5420 this trip).
I did end up buying it a Grersch hard case, and installing an American Bigsby and Towner Bar on it. Cool guitar for sure.
Ha, yes ! I agree : hard choice...
I want that bench....Oh ya, them guitars r pretty darn nice also.
Green guitars, I just don't get it. What is so special about green ? "Oh" it is St. Paty day.
My most recently-acquired green machine...
That was my neighbors I always marvel at the complimentary colours in that pic that happened almost purely by chance.
Miss that greenie...she was light and loud!
You people are doing nothing to help me solve my personal problem of wanting (let's face it -- needing) a green guitar. I just love the playability of my Black Phoenix, so what am I to do?
If only they'd made a Green Phoenix...
