I have played mostly Fenders for most of my life but recently picked up my first Gretsch for a project guitar and need help identifying the model and where to locate original parts ( bridge and bridge base)

Hi and welcome! Let's see it! BTW, I found a site- guitarinsite.nl- that lets you type in your SN and it tells you what you've got. I have no idea how accurate it is, but it's the only one I've found so far that supports Gretsch.

    Howdy! Welcome to the asylum!

Well, that's a beauty! It's got a mute, so there's some age to it. Is that missing frets besides missing a bridge? Look for a serial number---may be stamped into the edge of the headstock. You might not want the original stock bridge. Consider a Tru-Arc or Compton as they're both far superior units.

Welcome here. That`s obviously a 6120 from the sixties. Yes, a serial number would help.

Thanks for the info, I’ll check serial # this evening, right in front of where the bridge goes is a bolt coming thru the body with a piece of foam, what is that for ? I’ve seen it in a couple of pics but unsure what it is ?

    Welcome aboard hipshot!

Cool aul geet sir,the bolt coming thru the body with a piece of foam,is a mute, its works via the leaver closest to the Bigsby ,you engage it by lifting it closer to the strings, and lowering it to disengage.

Let me rephrase that... It tells you where and when it was made, but not the model number. When you have the year it was made, you can go to gretschguitars.com and click on the "catalogs" link (I think it's under "Support"), and go to the catalog for that year. I just had to do that for the one I got today.
