Can anyone point me to a really good hi-res image of the Gretsch Script Logo?
Depending on how you want to use it, I can probably duplicate it and send you a file. Your application needs will determine whether I can make a suitable repro.
Yes, Jerry Roll Horton,
I'm interested in too... A .svg file of the contour would be premium (=vectorial Inkscape file).
It would be for a pickguard engraving.
Let us know...
I can produce a vector file in Illustrator, or a .jpg, or indd.(I’m unfamiliar with .svg or Inkscape, but I’ll do some research and see if I can help.)
Thanks Jerry Roll Horton,
Inkscape is freeware that creates vectorial pictures and drawing : https://inkscape.org/fr/
I'm not sure that Inkscape can read .ai (Illustrator) vector files, but you may also save it under another format : .eps, which can be opened by Inkscape, I think.
I did a little reading and it looks like that is a PC program and format. I work on a Mac, but I’ll make a duplicate of the script, save it in a variety of formats, and send them to you to see what works. This might take me a day or so. Where in France are you? We visit Paris about every two years.
OK, a little more reading. My French isn’t real good, but what I can read from the Inkscape site it looks like any vector file may be accessible, if you have Inkscape. It will be interestimg to see.
Here is my first look at this. Let me know if this is accurate enough for you and usable. I now have this as an Illustrator vector file, an .eps file, an .svg file, a .jpeg file, and a .pdf file. This site will only allow me to upload a .jpeg. I can send any of the other formats by email if you contact me with your email address(es).
I think I’ll work on the s and h a little more. They don’t look quite right to me. The c too. In fact, the whole thing needs a little refinement, but it’s close.
Excellent J-R-H !
I'll send you my email via p.m. in a few minutes , no worry.
I suppose that you redrawn the logo from a background image - At least, it's what I usually do, but I'm not an ace in manning the Bézier curves...
Fine ! Of course I'll test these files to see what it looks like. I will send you a conventional GRETSCH logo I drawn some years ago via Inkscape, and then you could let me know it is readable too.
Thanks for your cooperation !
I am working with an guy out of Florida who makes custom pickguards (https://quickguards.com/) and want to have that logo on a new guard that I will be having him make for me as soon as my guitar arrives (G6620T).
This looks perfect to me. Can you send as a large vector file?
Yes. Coming later today.
SteveTR01, we have a similar idea, but for a different instrument...
Here's the pickguard vector file I designed for my G5220LH, and a matching simulation, in the case I shifted to HS FT PUs instead of BroadTrons :
Very nice! Good work!
Files have been sent to Stefan, Steve, and Bruno.
Ray, this is what I am hoping to do!
Neat idea. Send me a photo when you get it finished. Did the files I sent work for you? Do you need anything else, like a black fill on the vector file? Easy to do.
Files received OK - Thanks J-R-H !
