Makes no sense walking into a petrie dish if it can be avoided.

Each person can only evaluate their own situation.

Most "scheduled routine visits" can be handled over the phone/pc or whatever.

I cancelled my doc visits two weeks ago. No way in heck was I going into that dish! Lol

Just be safe out there folks.

    good for your doctor

My doctor daughter I live with has been seeing patients upstairs in our house for a week via a hippa approved video conferencing system. Most of her patients are elderly and she won’t let them come into the medical center for non Corona Virus issues. Her Patients are very pleased and spend the first few minutes making sure my daughter is keeping herself safe....Very sweet of them.

Only about half of the elderly ones can figure out how to log into and use the program. The ones that can’t she deals with by phone. She has known most of these patients for 10-15 yrs so she is pretty on top of their needs.

The doctors in her clinic have developed a system of who works from home and who works in the office

During my last MD visit, he never looked at me, just his computer so he could maximize his insurance payout. I never went back.
I always say that what is really going on in the doctor's mind is:
"Hmmm, that could be a payment on my new Mercedes." and "I'm sorry to tell you that what you have will definitely hasten my retirement to my condo in Florida."

They wouldn't let us into the hospital which is understandable. I had a follow up with a respiratory specialist last week. They were limiting visitors and exposure seriously. Things have really changed in the last month.

It's odd to me, having worked in several hospitals. They were all dirty, really dirty, never properly cleaned, some things never cleaned at all. I washed my hands a million times a day but rarely ran into a co-worker at the sink. The doctors never laundered their white coats or cleaned their stethoscopes between patients. I always said, the hospital - that's where the germs are.

That's one part I'd rather do over the phone

That's actually terrifying. One of the cleanest places I've ever been is an Air Force chow hall. Everything washed in boiling water from top to bottom---from plates to garbage cans. Scoured the grout on the floor tiles with toothbrushes.

I worked as a janitor at a uni's student union for a few months. Pretty clean as well---at least the kitchens and public areas were. The basement was nasty as were many unseen areas. The filthiest room in the building on a daily basis (and it was cleaned daily) was the women's employees' locker room. I've seen cleaner outhouses.

No joke, the cleanest place I’ve ever worked was at a Chinese Restaurant in Portland called Oriental Table. I never realized how clean a busy restaurant could be. Every surface shined. I felt like a stain when i walked in there!
It was a terrible job, and there was no love lost between the management and myself. I was constantly getting reprimanded for my appearance. I was a young and dirty musician. I had very questionable hygiene in my 20’s, I’ll admit it! Haha
It’s a shame they closed a few years back cuz they had the most DELICIOUS food.

Agreed. I also worked in USAF hospitals and believe me they were clean to the extreme. I think the difference is that the services have more "captive" personnel that are given things to do. The old saying was "If it moves, salute it. If it doesn't move, move it. If you can't move it paint it." etc.

That's an aberration then compared to the rest of them. Around here, the trucks that deliver to them get busted regularly and the restaurants get shut down left and right. The one that recently got shut down had hundreds of repeated, ongoing violations. The local Korean grill is fine. I've worked in a few eateries. I'm well aware of the cleanliness issues. That's one reason that I like diners and fast fooderies where I can see the operation. If the patrons can see the grille, the store CAN'T let it get dirty. A chain of diners where I grew up was named G&H. We called it Gag & Heave, tho that was a misnomer. It was all stainless steel, tile, and porcelain inside, and steamed clean twice a day.

Once, my brother and I were hitchhiking back home from uni (long, long ago). We got a ride from a state health inspector. We asked where NOT to eat. He listed a chain of Chinese eateries. He said when he shut them down, they tried to bribe him with food. (Attempted murder?) Go figure.
