So I know I really do not NEED a new amp, The Bassman and Supro BK12 working out fine, But the idea of my Gretsch through a 15 inch is intriguing. I am down to the Supro Rhythm Master and the Steelaire by Quilter, Any and all opinions are welcome, I see that a lot of people do not recommend the Supro, But the looks and functions still got me wanting one, Heck If I do not really like I get the 45 day return things from Guitar center. I really do not like taking advantage, But It seems like the only way since there are no examples for me to play locally Thanks! Mark

I can't say anything first hand about a 15" speaker, but I have a Quilter 101 Mini that sounds great no matter what cabinet I plug it into. So I'm a fan. And the Steelaire will have the advantage of being very light.

15's are special in their own way. Depending on the type of music played and tone wanted, they are "it."

My only experience with a 15" is the Excelsior, so I'll shut up, duck, and exit now! Lol

Try a Fender Excelsior if you can find one. I sold mine and shouldn't have.

A new amp isn't always needed. I had started thinking like that and do have a few amps but found the character of an amp can be drastically changed with just a speaker swap. So I have several different cabs instead of more speakers that I use with existing amps. A 1x15, a 2x12, and speakers to swap into the 2x12 when the urge calls for it. You may be better served by adding an external cab.

A fellow guitarist over here used to own an early 80ies Mesa Boogie (MK2) that was equipped with a 15``.
    Boy, that was something.
Very versatile amp that punched way above it`s size.

    This.
With a few mods (the tone knob mod it’s very useful, you could buy a ready made kit on the net and do it on your own) it sounds great at bargain prices. Of course you have to like the retro look and the extra weight (not really a pro for a 13w amp, but this is the burden of any 15’ amp), apart from the fact that they became quite hard to find.
One of the most underrated Fender amps if you ask me.

I wish! They are not making them anymore! I did see a Fender Concert locally in a shop for around $1000 Supposedly a rivera build.

My next amp is going to be the Fender Deluxe Reverb Tonemaster. I don’t even need it. I just can’t believe how great it sounds.

Nothing wrong with used/pre-owned. 95% of the amps I've owned were "broken in".

As you're looking for a 15" speaker, set your sights on an Altec D-130---the gold standard!
