Hi folks, i‘m more than just satisfied with my 5622t, but I still wonder where‘s the sweet spot of these pickups for other players... Anyone out there who‘d like to share measurements?
Super Hilotrons are the first pickups I've ever owned where the the heights of the of individual pole pieces are just as important, if not more so, than the overall height. There aren't any surefire settings that work all the time for any pickup in my experience, you need to use your ears. For the Supers, I approached setting the height the same way I did on my Strats: lower them down a lot, and bring them up a bit at a time until it either warbles or starts to sound harsh. Back it off a bit from there. Then balance it side-to-side to get the E strings at the same volume. Then, adjust the individual pole pieces until they're all balanced. If you use non-wound G string sets, the lowest pole will likely be the G, and the wound strings higher than nonwound.
Don't have one but i gotta say, i tried this out yesterday at GC and was very impressed. These are great pickups!
