So over the years I have heard some killer funky bass and love it but I have no idea what the songs were. So anyone willing to link some of their favorite killer funky bass? Some I can remember, some were seriously over played, but I never let that stop me.

    A favorite.

    Least we forget this one.

If you like instrumental funk, you must check out Vulfpeck and Fearless Flyers - same bass player and other overlaps.

Hear it now and thank me later. ;)

Flyers introduced me to Blake Mills - guy has great touch. Here is a cover of a Dylan song - love this arrangement.

    OMG Berlotti
Steely Dan (Walter Becker) yes great ..... but the king of funky bass is Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers imo.
All of their music was written around his funky bass lines.

When I was young I hated the Dorrs not I love their music. Red Hot Chilli Peppers are similar still not a huge fan for whatever reason I see Lea and he just rubs me the wrong way but the man is a killer bassist! No Doubt About IT!

    IMVHO......

Most of the stuff on this page is like what all you white fellers think is funk. Too many notes, not enough space. Too much technique, not enough grind. Y'all ain't got no sex.

Surprisingly, the best bass line of all time was actually played by a sax player......

Not traditional funk, but this is one of the greatest displays of bass prowess ever recorded. imo

My funk ‘n bass lessons are 30 minutes every Wednesday. Next week’s lesson is, in fact, Sophisticated Cissy by The Meters.
