The Duncan SSL-1 is a great front pickup imo, not too expensive either.

What neck are you thinking of using?

I'm going through this right now actually. I am seriously thinking of getting a USACG Strat neck with a 12" radius, and an ebony fretboard, and a Jazzmaster size headstock. I would get binding too, but USACG doesn't do binding, but from my research USASG is among the better options to go with, quality wise.

Also are you going to get a quarter sawn or flat sawn neck?

Or maybe an original strat neck?

    Hey RocknRollShakeUp,

I havent decided, which way to go for the neck. I heard great things about USACG necks. There was an offer for one used with good specs, but I missed it. There's also a luthier, who orders and finishes Allparts necks according to your individuel specs. I think Musikraft is another good option. All these are - customized for you - very pricey of course. Binding looks cool, but has its price tag too ;) !

I'd be happy with a used neck from a really good Japan Strat too - or an old Coronado neck :D ! I have no clue about quarter sawn / flat sawn....

    What I would like:
    - dark rosewood
    - veneer board
    - thick neck profile (best would be same neck profile like my LSL T-Bone - it feels great !!!)
    - 21 frets
    - dots
    - vintage 60ies style headstock
    - nitro finish slightly aged (yellowed)
    - vintage style klusons
    - bone nut cut for 11s
    - medium frets

Well - I'm not in a hurry, but having this nice arsenal of PUPs, I'm getting excited about the project :confused::eek:o_O

Got it! Yeah, cost is a factor! Have you looked at stratosphere.com? They have parted out Fender parts, but these can be quite expensive too!

I really want a matching headstock (I'll prob. get some local dude to do it), ebony board and 12" radius which really limits my choices!

nope havent looked at stratosphere.com (but will now ;) )... Ebony is cool ! I have an MJT body (no, it's in fact 2) and I will get along with standard headstock... I could put the neck of my 93/94 MIJ Strat on it and try !???! But demounting is always... hmm not sooo great ;)...
