Last night Mrs Audept and I went to see Fleetwood Mac in Sydney. My friend of 40 years was their sound mix engineer so we got to sit at the FOH mix console with him and swap stories from our many concerts together. As always, he delivered a flawless mix at a comfortable level with punchy low end and great vocal and guitar sounds. The band was excellent, especially with the addition of Neil Finn and Mike Campbell. Mick Fleetwood was belting out a huge drum sound and the band was tight and powerful. Mike Campbell’s lead guitar work was melodic and toneful. We loved it. I had done a few tours with the band back in the ‘80s and this was the tightest I had ever heard them play. They all looked like they were totally enjoying themselves on stage. A magical night!

Seated at the mixer I didn’t feel like I should be shooting iPhone photos across my mate while he was working, so I refrained. I did however snap a photo of my working crew pass and the set list off the mix desk.

They said they hadn't played it in a long time.

You'll love it. Tip: use the pre-paid parking feature or you won't get entry to the main car park.

Glad you had a great night!

Neil Finn is a classy addition. He makes everything sound great. I'm presuming he had his Jet Firebird with him?

After checking the internet, they had not played it since 1969.
And it triggers headlines on many websites.

(Then "they" only relates to Mick Fleetwood and John McVie)

I am glad that you had an enjoyable concert. Campbell is a high caliber player but I would still miss Mr. Buckingham.

He sure did, played it most of the set. Mike Campbell used a doublecut White Falcon on one song late in the set.

I saw them last fall. While LB is irreplaceable, Finn and Campbell are great themselves and with the rest of the band they were excellent. My thought was that the whole band seemed loose and were enjoying playing together. Apparently that wasn’t the case always with the other guy.

Great review. I saw them on YouTube doing one of their first performances. and it seemed to me that the vocal blend needed work. Seems they improved that?

Also @audept I wonder if we know each other?

They ALWAYS put on a great show! Is John McVie playing his Godin Shifter Classics on this tour too?

Maybe Lindsey Buckingham could write a book and go on a book tour with Don Felder?

Brilliant! I saw them in Glasgow 3 years ago, before Lynsey Buckingham got the boot. Wonderful.performers, sounded still at the top of their game and with a stamina I've rarely seen in performers half their age. How Neil Finn got a good reception!

I may be a minority here, but are they still Fleetwood Mac without Peter Green?
Sorry, but to me, it's still Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, and "Man Of The World" is such a delicate song, it is hard to imagine it being played by somebody else than the very fragile minded PG.
But maybe I should get used to the fact that PG left this world decades ago and Fleetwood Mac hasn't been a Bluesband ever since.

    Interesting set list.
They are doing a Neil Finn and Tom Petty song now.
And for me these are the 2 best songs on the list :)

I'm sure Mike C was great but what have they got Neil doing in FM?

Just looked like a P-Bass derivative from where I was sitting.
