Hey- just got a Georgia Green 5622T and am completely smitten.

I’ve enjoyed rockabilly and psychobilly for several years now and since I’ve gone back to guitar from bass I knew deep down that I’d want a Gretsch. Tried to fill the hole with a Tele but it just didn’t do it.

Minor nag, seems that the low E has a little bit of buzzing going on. Anyone know if that is something that might work itself out with time and use?

Looking forward to the community here and interacting with fellow Gretsch owners.

Not sure about the 5622, but someone should be along soon that has one. And welcome to the forum from a little bit north.

Welcome and sweet guitar. Could be the bridge buzzing or rattling, they are notoriously poopy.

    Howdy! Welcome to the asylum!

Like Henry said---could be the bridge. Rattle-o-matics aren't my favorite.

Whatever you - don't take any notice of whatever this old fart says.

    Just enjoy your instrument.

I've had some beautiful days with my 6120 since griping about it on this forum.

Welcome to GT. Give your guitar about a month to get used to its new home and then have a proper set up done. A few dollars yes, but will pay dividends towards your enjoyment of the instrument.

    Great Gretsch! Welcome too.

As for the buzz, how low is your action?

I just bought my third Gretsch, an orange stained G5420T. It is coming in today and I can hardly wait to pull it out of the box. It will look really nice next to my Club Jet and my Rancher Acoustic Electric.

Hello! Try to put at least 10s, maybe shes with 09s and the action might be a litle too close to the fretboard.

Thanks all for the welcome! Much appreciated!

To answer some of the questions and give a bit more context:

I bought this new from a GC. I thought for almost twice the money of the MIM Tele I returned and replaced it with, the Gretsch would be pretty high quality. The MIM Tele was pretty sweet and nary a buzz or rattle to be found. Starting to have some regrets here. Please tell me that the overall build and quality here of my 5622T is not represented by the E string's little buzz!

Unless it gets worse, I'll take the advice of @Robbie and break her in a bit and then take her in for a proper set-up.

The action is quite low (which I'm pretty happy about) so maybe that's a factor.

Not sure on string size. I think it's spec'ed out as having 10's and they do seem fatter than the Tele's were (which were spec'ed as 9's). Tough for me to tell as I'm coming over from several years on bass and guitar strings all seem like dental floss to me in comparison.

    Thanks everyone again. ;)

I wouldn't get too worried about it until you've changed the strings. And welcome from another newbie!

    Welcome to the flock!

If 10’s feel like dental floss, don’t be afraid to go to 11’s. My G5420 loves ‘em!
