    Hi,

From what I've seen, the Humbucker/P90 combination gets a lot of love.

Has anyone tried the combination filtertron bridge / P90 neck?

    It's for my G5422

    Thanks!

I tried it for a short time in my G3161. It works well. I didnt want that compressed 'Tron tone in the neck, but liked it in the bridge.

For a short time... Did you get tired of it?

Here ya go. Bridge pickup is a TV Jones Classic Filtertron in a P90 mount. The neck P90 soapbar is by Bareknuckle.

I was thinking the Eddie Cochran model did this but a quick googlette showed that the bridge pickup is a Dyno. D’oh.

nothing to see here, move along!

I thought that, too, and looked it up, too.

Anyway ... if you like both alone in these positions, the combination might be worth a try.

If you can buy used pickups, do no harm to them you might even be able to resell, if a little time is allowed to go by, without a loss worth mentioning.

In the end, it's up to your ears.

It was more of a transitional experiment along the way to this just to see:

    Dennison, Swivel,
    That looks cool!
    How did you mount them?
They re not the same size as filtertron, are they?
Is there a straightforward way or did you need to slam it with a sledgehammer?
    Thanks!

I have a P90 at the neck of one of my Tele's and a stock Tele pickup with similar output to a Tron in back, they work okay together but the 90 is much more powerful, it's also hard to find a tonal balance, either the bridge is an ice pick or the neck is mud. I can get a balance i like but its a narrow window, its still stock 250k pots and .22 cap though so i bet i can get it better with some tweaking.

I ve got a volume for each pickup, so I thought I could get around balance problems by playing with them?

Cool, thanks, T90 seems to be the easiest way!

On the earlier type of Projet the stock Gretsch minihumbucker were the same size as a soapbar P90 so the soapnars just drop in. You need some sort of wooden crosspiece in the cavity (simple enough to do) as the soapbars have two inboard mounting screws.

Yeah, it will probably be better for you. You probably have 500k pots too so even better. I can't do 500k with that Tele pickup, my dogs couldn't take it.
