Yes! Do you count 1st gen as the gen that moved, or the gen that was born in Canada (I use the latter). In first gen Chinese-American base on birth (my parents were born in China and Hong Kong, their kids born in California - actually, my little sister was born on Hong Kong too but as an american).

    Hi Henry
1st generation is the one that arrived from Japan. My parents and I were born in Canada. So for the Japanese, you yourself would be second generation.

No games today. I had to play the guitar to pass the time. Felt weird.

Yeah, I'm learning the violin and the matches were great because they made me stand up while I watched the games and practiced (with sporadic interruptions at crucial moments) at the same time.
Today, my practice schedule was all off kilter!

Saw our first 2018 world cup game today - well the last 45 minutes. Some nasty trips by Denmark made my kids pull for Croatia over the "cheaters". No offense to our Danish friends. It was cute to see my kids get to passionate about the game after the second trip - they were pissed! We don't watch sports but dip in occasionally for the big tournaments.

    My sweet Lord!

England win a World Cup penalty shoot out for the first time ever. Into the quarter-finals!

I'm going to have a beverage or 6 now...

I'm feeling with you folks over the pond ;)

Colombia didn't deserve to win, because they played pretty unfair.

Now after this debut the 3 Lions should become WC winner too :)

    Wonderful for England...
I'm afraid the US ref was not in charge all the time and there was at least one clear penalty for a headbutt in the penalty area that England were denied during the regular 90mins and another for a trip. In the end we deserved to win against a fouling machine from Columbia.
    BUT!
IF we win against Sweden, IF...... then it's either Russia or Croatia in the quater final.....!!!!!!
Still, better than Belgium's Red Devils or cheat-Neymar's talented mates.

Read the Columbian managers post match this morning. They must be sponsored by a 'Columbian Cigarette Manufacturer' ;) ...
One snippet - Harry Kane dived for the penalty...
The ref gave the penalty because your defender was trying to mount Jordan Henderson, dumbass.
Gotta get me '20' of what he smokes.

To say that Columbia were not unfair or cheats is of course ridiculous.
While nearly the entire Columbian team had surrounded the US ref putting him under massive pressure to reverse the penalty decision, Mojica was busy digging up the penalty spot with his boot to try and make it difficult for Kane to take the penalty. That is the mentality with which England had to contend last night, that and the never ending fouls to disrupt England's progress. It was an aweful match to watch and is the reason why I am always in two minds about watching these games. The cynical fouls, play-acting that would be hilarious in kindergarten but which are a mainstay of so many so-called world class players of which Neymar is the best example contrive to make the game painful to watch.

To be fair somebodyelse, the Columbian team have received death threats for not beating England and under the circumstances I would also have tried to blame the other team if I were Columbia's trainer! Who knows what fate might still await the team back home?!

    Yeah.
Ordinarily, I'd say people who are going to kill you don't tell you beforehand, BUT I remember one World Cup where they returned home and a player was assasinated as he walked off the plane, so in their case, maybe not empty threats.

Colombia team yesterday were embarrassment to football. Horrible cheats which got sent off home deservedly.

Sweden on Saturday will be hard but fair game at least.
