I‘m interested in the 65 Princeton reissue for a longer time now, today I’ve pulled the trigger on this ltd. run:

Nice looker. It‘s equipped with a 12“ Celestion. Yup, I know it‘s got pcb boards :(, but can someone tell me if at least the tube sockets are handwired? Thanks!

  2. I have no answers but really would love to hear a Princeton Reverb with a 12” speaker. Envy. Congrats!

Congratulations! She’s a beauty too. Despite the hype for all things hand-wired, PCB’s can sound great, make it affordable, and handle the business fine. Enjoy and rock on!

Thanks guys...but no one who knows about the tube sockets? I can‘t seem to find an information on the web...

The tube sockets are bolted to the chassis in the old school way, and connected via flying leads, rather than being mounted on a pcb. This makes doing your own hardwired job much easier if you get the urge to do a conversion.

A standard 25 watts Greenback, I‘ll have to see if I like it but I guess I‘ll swap it for a Jensen or Celestion alnico.

My idea was to send you the chassis to do the same phenomenal handwiring you‘ve did on your Princeton clone

PCB’s not a bad thing. Maybe slightly less repairable, but also more consistent in larger quantities. Tube sockets should be mounted on the chassis though, but I’m sure they are. Nice looking amp!

If it is done right (like Mesa does) PCB is not a bad thing. I would give it a listen and decide afterwards.
The look of this box is really beautiful btw.

That's a limited edition Ive never seen before. Looks custom more than limited edition. Im just about ready to post a NAD too. We have similar requirements in power plants.

    Hey Stefan !

What's that "Princeton Reverb meets a Valco / Supro" amp ?

Congratulations ! Sure you won't regret it... :)

A 12" is way better than the 10" C10R that comes in the standard version. That said, mine (a late 70s SF in premium condition) has a very good Oxford RI 10" coming from a Vibroverb 63 RI :

Maybe take a look at the Celestion A type. It doesn't get much of a look with all the blues and greenbacks, but at 30w it's going to be similar to a C12q. Gets a lot of likes from those in the know.

Nice Princeton, very unusual. Will be interesting to hear what you think of it compared to your Swart :)
